Frequently Asked Questions

Are classes free?

Class fees at most campuses will be either partial or completely waived with written disability verification. In many cases, school fees can be covered by the California Department of Rehabilitation, if the student is eligible.

How much do classes cost?

Classes at most Education & Career Centers cost from $10.00 to $50.00 per semester. Check with your nearest school regarding exact fees and any possible waiver based on disability.

Do I need disability verification?

To be eligible for services and possible fee waiver through the Disability Support Program, written disability verification is required.

What ages do you serve?

The ages of students served through our program is generally from 18 to eighty. Basically, we serve adult students who are no longer involved with high school.

How long does vocational training take?

The length of most of our vocational training programs is one to two semester.

Do I need an IEP?

No, an IEP is not required, but it can be helpful to serve as a disability verification.

Is a High School Diploma required?

A high school diploma is not a requirement to attend most Career Technical Education classes. A High School Diploma is required for certain specialized training, such as L.V.N. or Pharmacy Technician.

What accommodations do you provide?

Examples of accommodations that can be provided at our Education & Career Centers include interpreting for students with hearing impairments, ramps and access for students with mobility impairments, specialized counseling and registration assistance, advocacy, assistance with adaptive equipment, and job placement counseling.

What types of certificates and diplomas are offered?

Upon the successful completion of a Education & Career Center class, students will earn a Certificate of Completion. At most of our Education & Career Centers, students may also earn a High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Do you provide assistance with job placement?

Many of the Education & Career Centers offer job placement assistance to all students. Specialized job placement is offered through of our Disability Support Program and our WorkAbility II Employment Specialists assist many Department of Rehabilitation consumers.

Are classes available in the evenings and on Saturdays?

Most Education & Career Centers offer classes on evenings and Saturdays. Contact your local campus for a schedule of class times.

Do you provide tutoring?

Tutoring can be provided at some campuses. You may contact the Disability Support Program at (818) 360-2095 for details.

Can I take a tour of the school?

All Education & Career Centers encourage visitors. You may contact the Disability Support Program at (818) 360-2095 tour arrange a campus tour.

Do I need to take a placement test?

A placement assessment is required for a few programs such as GED or Nursing. The majority of our training programs do not require a placement test.
